Our experience has provided us with the knowledge and expertise to efficiently cut tubing using the most appropriate method depending on the end use requirements. Tube cutting is a useful process when tubes need to be fitted to assemblies. On a per print basis, we can assist in choosing the best method of cutting, or one particular method may be requested. Bevels, chamfers, grooves, hose barbs & threads can be done in the lathe cycle when cutting, or as secondary operations. We often use coping and miter cuts.
We have lathe and saw cutting capabilities from hypodermic up to 3”. Most tubing is either lathe or saw cut and deburred as a secondary operation. Deburring can be done efficiently using batch processes such as vibratory bowl deburring. Some requirements call for specific chamfer angles and sizes which require individual chamfering of each piece. We have the capability to provide miter cuts and coped ends for form fitting and welding. Burr free cutting of hypodermic tubing is accomplished with our automatic electrochemical cutting machine (ECM). This high speed cutting method produces accurate, repeatable, tight tolerance cutting with virtually no burrs. The excess material is carried away in the electrochemical cutting process leaving a very clean cut end. Very thin wall tubing will actually have a small radius on the inside and outside edges.
